What's happening now?
To ensure we don't have problems with snow on the wings affecting the centre of gravity, XM655 is currently in 'winter configuration' with the on-board fuel moved forward and the nosewheel leg secured to a tie-down on the pan.
The volunteers are actively engaged in the winter maintenance programme for both the aircraft and ground equipment. A blow-by-blow account will appear in the Spring newsletter.
One of the smaller jobs has been fault-finding on the tail navigation lights wiring, which resulted in this unusual view of a Vulcan with the Red Steer radome removed.
